The Holy Donut Goes to College

Here at Maine Course, we will begin to make regular blog posts featuring local producers who work with Sodexo and Maine Course here in Maine to share these companies’ stories. Our inaugural featured producer is Rockland, Maine-based Bixby & Company. 

On Friday, September 7th, Maine Course hosted a collection of local vendors at a Sustainability Fair in the Brooks Dining Hall on the University of Southern Maine’s Gorham Campus.

The Maine Course is conducting an open application period to recruit new Maine Course Advisory Committee members to serve on this committee for one to three years. We are specifically looking for an organic farmer, a dairy farmer and a policy/research expert on on local food systems to join.

Today's post has been written by Tanesha Pottle, an environmental studies student at the University of Maine Machias and our wonderful sustainability and marketing intern. She has written about her experience working on with the team at Machias.

The Gulf of Maine is a giant body of water in the Atlantic Ocean that runs down to Cape Cod in Massachusetts from the southern part of Nova Scotia. The fishing industry is a major economic driver throughout the coast of Maine as well as a source of connection to community members.
