Maine Course Hosts Local Vendors at USM Sustainability Fair
Posted on September 11, 2018
On Friday, September 7th, Maine Course hosted a collection of local vendors at a Sustainability Fair in the Brooks Dining Hall on the University of Southern Maine’s Gorham Campus.
The vendors who were tabling and providing delicious product samples were Gifford’s Ice Cream, Papou’s Falafel, Oakhurst Dairy, Bixby Bar, Maine Family Farms, Mousam Valley Mushrooms, Grandy Oats Granola, Izzy’s Cheesecake, It’ll Be Pizza, and Gulf of Maine Research Institute.
In addition to meeting the vendors and tasting their products, students could interact with other sustainability-focused organizations, hosted by the USM Office of Sustainability. Many students were surprised and pleased to learn how Sodexo’s Maine Course have helped USM to source local foods through relationships with local producers and initiatives such as the Priority Produce Program. We hope to keep encouraging students to be supportive and aware of our work to improve local food systems and provide fresh, quality foods to our consumers through events like these.
